
2024 Another Audience Artist
Mina Nishimura from Tokyo, is a dance artist whose practice and work carry Buddhism-based philosophies. Her latest project, Mapping a Forest while Searching for an Opposite Term of Exorcist (2022), commissioned by Danspace Project, has been presented in multiple iterations and locations. She currently teaches at Bennington College where she completed her MFA fellowship in 2021.
Shovel engages in a practice of digging as a portal to an unknown physical realm, as a passage to a place where voices from ancestors and future species echo on each other, and as a conversation/collaborative work with the land and non-human beings.
